A guide to playing Golf during Covid-19

The aim of this guide is to provide you with an outline of the measures and guidelines we have introduced to ensure that playing at Saltburn Golf Club is both safe and enjoyable.

The Professional’s Shop team will be able to provide assistance when you arrive and require further clarification.

We do ask all players to adhere to these guidelines at all times and we will continue to monitor and review the advice from the Government and the sport’s Governing Bodies.

Please stay safe and play safe The Executive Committee.

Organising a golf game

  • Members with colds or any symptoms of Covid-19 must stay away from the golf course and clubhouse.

  • All bookings must have pre-booked a tee time via the online Intelligent Golf system. Visitors should please call the Pro’s Shop (01287 612822).

  • You cannot just turn up and play – all players must be named on the online booking system for contact tracing purposes.

  • Tee times will run from 7am to 8pm on ten minute intervals to help with social distancing.

  • Please put your own hand sanitizer/cleaner in your golf bag so it is readily available if you require it.

  • If you are a permitted buggy user then you must ensure the buggy is returned to the Pro’s shop by 5:30pm, so please book your tee time accordingly.

Arriving for a game of golf

  • Golfers should travel to the club on their own or with a member of the same household.

  • Please avoid arriving at the club more than 20 minutes before your booked tee time. If you do then please remain within your car. Do not park next to your playing partners.

  • Observe social distancing rules at all times.

  • The locker rooms in the clubhouse will be closed.

  • After changing shoes and getting your golfing equipment ready alongside your car, please check how busy it is near the Pro’s shop. Only move towards the start area when there is available space for you to stand at suitable social distances.

  • Clubhouse toilets will be open but close at 6pm.

  • Access to the first tee will be managed by the Pro shop staff, which will involve the following measures:

  • 1 group on the first tee

  • 1 group on the putting green

  • 1 group getting ready to move onto the practice putting green once the first tee group has cleared.

  • The holes on the practice putting green will be filled in.

On the golf course

  • Enjoy your game and keep safely apart at all times whilst out on the course, especially on and around teeing areas and on the greens.

  • Once you have completed a hole and are leaving the green do not enter the next teeing ground until the all members of the group in front have played their tee-shots and exited the teeing ground.

  • Do not touch the flag stick. The hole cup will restrict the ball dropping to the bottom of the cup allowing touch free ball retrieval. Twelve inch gimmies are allowed!

  • Do not try to use ball washers (disabled) and water fountain (disabled) and other course furniture must not be touched.

  • Bunker rakes have been removed and all bunkers will have placing of 6 inches/15 cm if required .

  • Ensure that you maintain a good pace of play by keeping up with the group in front avoiding any congestion on the course.

  • If you lose your ball, do not go back to the tee to play another ball. Just agree with your playing partner where you think it may have approximately ended up and play the replacement ball.

  • Players must not touch other players equipment, including balls, trollies, buggies, clubs, tees etc.

  • Toilets at the Halfway House will be open for use.
