The House Committee Update: February 2020

Time seems to be flying by and before we know it the new golfing season will be upon us.

‘House’ was very busy towards the end of 2019 with the electrical and fire door repairs being completed. This work was necessary to comply with mandatory fire regulations.

The bar tops in both Bar and Lounge have been replaced and blinds have been fitted to add a bit more security but this is also to indicate to visitors and members when the bar is shut. As a reminder, members and visitors are not allowed behind the bar or to enter the kitchen.  Members of staff should be approached if anything is needed rather than entering the prohibited bar areas. The Catering Franchisee and his staff have witnessed a few near misses when attempts have been made by members to access the kitchen. Hot food is served via the bar areas and we do not want an accident occurring with hot food being spilt.

The serving of Sunday lunches will recommence after Mothering Sunday on 22nd March.  The menu is on the website and on face-book for those who use it. Bookings are being taken now. When you are looking for a place for Sunday lunch then please think about the golf club - it does offer great surroundings, good beer and excellent food so please try and support the Golf Club and the Catering Franchise.

The House team are always looking for ways to improve the clubhouse and are open to any suggestions that you may have. We rely on our own resources to undertake much of the required work but do take on skilled professional tradesmen when needed.  We are always looking for new people who might like to join the House committee. Our voluntary team does not meet every month but on an ‘as required’ basis. Most of the work we do is in the winter months with the odd paint job in the summer. So, if you would like to come and give us a hand then please let myself or one of the House Committee know.  Many thanks to those who have helped the House team throughout 2019, especially John J Dunn, Penni and Geoff Hughf, Carol and Tony Loughran and not forgetting Peter Webb and the very kind donations from the key draw.

Finally, Peter Carruthers of Carruthers Jewellers in Saltburn (also a shop in Stokesley), is offering 20% discount on all purchases to members of Saltburn Golf Club.
