Competitions News: December, 2019

Winter golf has hit us at Saltburn Golf club with a vengeance - we’ve had some exceptionally wet weather and it has been a real challenge for the Greens team to keep the course in play. Work on the first hole has also meant that holes 1,2 & 3 have been in and out of play quite a lot. In these circumstances and with a shortened course, there is no handicap review and adjustment taking place at present.

As is quite often the case during winter months, the use of mats is necessary in order to protect wet fairways. If mats are required to be used, directions are given in the daily course information message which can be heard by dialling (01287) 622812 – Option 1. If you see anyone out on the course not using a mat when they are required to be used, please bring this to their attention and remind them.

Unfortunately, the Christmas competition that had been arranged for Sunday 8th December has had to be cancelled due to lack of interest. It’s a great shame that when such an event is requested by members and efforts have been made to organise it, there is then insufficient support.

Since there won’t be another newsletter publication until February 2020, please watch the notice board and website for details of the Captain vs Vice Captain match which will kick off the golf playing calendar next year - although there is still quite some time to go!
