Union Team Report: May, 2019
I have the pleasure of managing the union team this season. Over thirty players have shown an interest in playing for the team, including a number of our younger players, which is very encouraging. The aim is to try and get the right blend of youth and experience for a successful team campaign.
Our overall objective this season is to win promotion with the added incentive that three teams instead of two will get promoted this year from the Tees Union third division. We started our practice sessions in early April and these will continue throughout the month. I am very pleased with the attendance and commitment the players have shown. It is very important to build team spirit and morale and if we can combine those with the right attitude, we will have a real chance of achieving promotion.
Our first match is a local derby, away to Hunley Hall on Wednesday 1st May, first tee time is 4-30pm. It would be great to see as many members there as possible to support the team.
On a separate note, the Club will be represented in the Yorkshire Union Foursomes Tournament against Low Laithes GC at Pike Hills GC on Sunday 5th May. We will also be competing in the Yorkshire Union 6th Division Team Championship, also at Pike Hills GC on Wednesday 8th May.
I would like to thank the Club sponsors SG Petch for funding the team clothing.
