The Association of James Braid Courses

Saltburn Golf Club course was redesigned in 1922-24 based on advice from James Braid who, at the time, was a renowned golfer having won the Open Championship five times in ten years, 1901-1910. James Braid then became a talented Golf Architect as he had a ‘deft eye’ for the landscape which enabled him to make the best use of the contours, trees and other natural hazards to produce stunning courses. He has been involved in the design, either originally or the re-design, of more than 400 courses. Saltburn Golf Club is a participating member of the Association of James Braid Courses.

In recognition of their common heritage many of these courses offer golfers from fellow ‘James Braid’ courses discounted rates.

The Association of 1894 Golf Clubs

Saltburn Golf Club was founded in 1894 and many other golf clubs (approx. 21 clubs) spread around Great Britain who were established in the same year have agreed to celebrate their shared beginnings and offer reciprocal reduced rates to members from clubs of the 1894 Association.
