Due to an early covering of snow!, commencement of the match was delayed by 30 minutes. Nonetheless, by 10-30 a.m. the course looked and was in excellent condition as the Captain Ray Bannon and Professional Paul Bolton led the way against Vice Captain Steve Farrell and Club Champion Andy Birkbeck.

In a keenly fought match the Captain and Paul just edged out the Vice Captain and Andy with the Match finishing on the 16th. However this was not the start of a trend as many of the following matches went in favour of the Vice Captain's side. Clearly the Captains Team 'peaked' too early!

The early matches had been played out in glorious sunshine, however, the weather deteriorated forcing many of the later matches to agree 'respectable halves'.

The final result was (as last year)  in favour of the Vice Captain's Team and approximately!, by sixteen points to eight.

As always all the matches were played in the correct spirit and tradition and it is of course the taking part and not the winning that counts.

The meal afterwards (traditionally paid for by the losing pairs) was excellent and the traditional after meal 'get-together' was very much in the Saltburn Golf Club tradition, great fun and guaranteeing a few 'sore heads' on Monday morning.

Final thanks to all on the day (including Colin and Anne Turner for seeing everybody off) for making it such good fun in difficult circumstances.
